Cllr Anna Smith has over 10 years’ experience in local and regional government, and over 30 years’ leadership experience. A former leader of Cambridge City Council, she was Acting Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough for five months, covering the illness of Mayor Nik Johnson. She then spent a further two years as Deputy Mayor, leading on Transport and Infrastructure and sitting on the Business Board. During her time at the Combined Authority, it went from Best Value Notice, to being shortlisted for most improved local authority.

Anna is passionate about the transformational potential of regional mayors, and will bring her unique perspective of seeing the work of a Mayoral Combined Authority from the perspective of both council leader and (acting) mayor.
